A 33-year-old man was arrested after officials said he tried to obtain a driver’s license using the identity of a deceased man.
Adriano Moreira-Goncalves on Monday went to a Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles Sparks office to renew a commercial driver’s license, said DMV spokesman Kevin Malone. But officials realized through their Social Security online verification that the man he claimed to be was really dead, Malone said.
And, a photo of the deceased man in the computer system also did not match Moreira-Goncalves.
DMV investigators booked Moreira-Goncalves into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of fraudulent application for a driver’s license and possession of a false identification.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement have also placed a hold on the suspected illegal immigrant.
